Barnstaple’s historic Pannier Market is managed and run by North Devon Council and we are proud to work with them as Barnstaple Town Council’s Guildhall is positioned at the High Street end of the Pannier Market and the two buildings have a long history together.
All information regarding the Pannier Market can be found on North Devon Council’s website via this page – Pannier Market – all you need to know.
You can find out about opening times, how to become a trader, how to find the market, the history of the Pannier Market and market fees.
Since Saxon times, Barnstaple has served as a market town for the surrounding countryside. Traditionally, separate markets for meat, fish, produce and other goods were held in the streets of the town, with Friday appointed as the main market day for livestock from Queen Mary’s time.
