Civil War in Barnstaple project celebrates £6,400 National Lottery grant.

This exciting project, Civil War in Barnstaple, in various locations throughout Barnstaple and led by the Heritage Committee of Barnstaple Town Council, has been awarded £6,400 to tell the story of Barnstaple’s Civil War History. 
The Heritage Committee of Barnstaple Town Council, will be running a week-long programme of events from the 7th - 13th August 2017, based upon Barnstaple’s part in the English Civil War during the years 1642-1646. 
There will be varied and exciting projects taking place in three locations in Barnstaple, The Barnstaple Guildhall, St Anne’s Art and Community Centre and Rock Park. All events will be free for the public to enjoy ranging from Decoupage Box making to a Civil war re-enactment in Rock Park. There are opportunities for people to get involved, if you’re interested in volunteering please contact Barnstaple Town Council. 
Commenting on the award, Cllr Val Elkins, Vice Chairman of the Heritage Committee for Barnstaple Town Council said: “It’s great that we have been awarded this grant and we can’t wait to get started. We can’t wait to bring this fascinating and often forgotten part of Barnstaple’s history to life.”
