North Devon Council's Parks & Green Spaces

Are you uncertain about which council oversees the management of your local parks? While Rock Park falls mostly under the jurisdiction of Barnstaple Town Council, the majority of parks are maintained by North Devon Council.

Here’s a comprehensive list of the areas they are responsible for:

NDC Parks & Green Spaces

North Devon Council (NDC) manages and looks after the following parks and green spaces in Barnstaple:

  • Pilton Park
  • Parts of Rock Park – including the skatepark

We look after parts of Rock Park, too – and you can find out more about the park and what we do here: https://www.barnstapletowncouncil.gov.uk/rock-park/

  • Rotary Gardens – a park with a variety of trees – and a tree trail
  • The Tarka Trail – the Barnstaple to Braunton section of the national cycle route and footpath
  • Whiddon Valley Woodland – a stream-edged wooded slope with paths running through it
