The Town Council runs a community grants scheme, which opens for applications in October each year. The deadline for this year's applications is 3rd December 2020.
Grants are generally only awarded to organisations or partnerships which demonstrate that:
a) They have a need for grant funding. Grants may not be given to any organisation with significant uncommitted funds;
b) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound governance arrangements;
c) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sound financial management;
d) The grant will represent good value for money;
e) They have, in the opinion of the Council, sufficient ability to deliver the outcomes anticipated;
f) They have clear policies on equality and inclusion covering service users, subject to recognised exemptions; and
g) Most importantly, the grant provides significant benefit specifically to the community of Barnstaple.
The Council will generally not approve applications from individuals or from commercial organisations.
The Council currently allocates £20,000 each year for community grants, and in 2019, 32 applications were approved.

The Davie Barnstaple Trust
The Davie Barnstaple Trust seeks applicants for grants or part grants of up to £5000. The Trust is set up to help young people up to age 25yr but otherwise has a broad remit. Applications must come from organisations such as (but not confined to) a school or charity. Grants are limited to organisations within a 20 mile radius of Barnstaple Town Hall.
This year's application window closed on 30th April 2020 but the grants run every year and the new round will open in January 2021 application details will be shared here!
